Commit to Read the Bible Thru in 2026
We live in a world that lacks commitment. Many don't even like saying. the word. However, God is a fan of commitment. Psalm 37:5 says, "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act." Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established."
Deuteronomy 6:5 without using the word commitment describes commitment, "Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart and with ALL your soul and with ALL your strength. In fact, Jesus said this is the greatest commandment.
Jesus quoted Scripture back to the devil when Jesus was tempted. To do that, Jesus knew the Word of God. If you expect to have victory over the evil one. You also need to know the Scripture.
The journey you are about to embark on requires commitment. There needs to be four shifts in your thinking.
- You must start thinking RELATIONSHIP. You are not reading the Bible thru to check off a box in your to-do list. You are having a real conversation with a real person...who happens to be the Creator of the universe who knows you better than you know yourself. As in any relationship this requires honesty and consistency.
- You must start thinking TIME. Your time is your most valuable asset. You have the same amount of time each day as the person next to you. How you spend it is what sets you apart from them. How you spend your time displays what you think is important in life. You must commit the time to this. If you knew you had cancer and the doctor made an appointment for you to discuss treatment...you would move heaven and earth to be there. Well, you and I have a spiritual cancer called SIN. We need to meet with the Great Physician daily to treat it.
- You must start thinking TOOLS. Ask anyone who works and they will tell you good tools are important to effective work. If you want God to work in your life...you need to use His tools. First, PRAYER is vital. Before you read God's word, ask God in a simple prayer to prepare your heart. Second, choose your SWORD (the Bible) carefully. Use a translation not a paraphrase. I will suggest a few at the end of this paragraph. Make sure the language is simple enough for you to understand. Do not use your phone or tablet. Use a real Bible. This may require an investment but hey if you were going to run a 5K you would probably invest in a pair of good shoes. If you cannot afford one...see the pastor...he will get you one. Third, JOURNAL. Get a notebook to write down truths God is speaking to you. Respond to these truths with your own thoughts in the journal. Many people read God's word without journaling. It's okay if you don't. However, over time you will be glad you kept up with these conversations with God. SUGGESTED TRANSLATIONS: New King James Version (NKJV), New Living Translation (NLT), English Standard Version (ESV), Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB), Christian Standard Bible (CSB).
- You must start thinking STRATEGY. Start out with at least 15 minutes a day. Stick to it and stack the days. Personally, early morning is the best time. Even Jesus, rose early to pray and seek God. However, don't be legalistic about it. If you miss one morning due to complications...carve out 15 minutes else where during the day...like you have 15 minutes waiting on your children in the carpool line. Take advantage of such moments. Avoid moments in the day when you are physically or emotionally tired. If you say, that's all the time...then you of all people need to spend more time with God. We will furnish you with a Bible reading plan that will enable you to read the entire Bible in the span of 2026. If you miss a day....DON'T GIVE UP....simply read more on another day when you have more time. REMEMBER, WE MAKE TIME FOR WHAT WE CONSIDER IMPORTANT. The more you read, consistently stacking the days, you will begin to see a change in you IF you are honest and consistent.
NOW, IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO COMMIT. If you so desire, submit the form below. The only one who will see this form is Bro. Guy. He desires to pray for you and will send you periodic encouragement as you begin this journey.
